Job Summary

The Vice President of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) is responsible for the strategic leadership Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope’s (OBE) EHS Program. This position is responsible for development and maintenance of environmental, safety and health policies, processes, and procedures at offices and project sites across all operating regions. This position oversees and ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations. This position leads a team of EHS leaders and serves as an integral member of the executive leadership team.

Here's What You’ll Get to Do

  • Partner with business leaders to foster a culture where safety is the number one priority.
  • Drive continuous improvement of the Safety Program and practices across the company.
  • Develop a culture of accountability in the operations for EHS and define an optimal organization model for the EHS team to deliver results and provide the tools to the operating leadership
  • Establish and implement clear organizational and policy programs to drive and sustain recordable incident rates below 1.0 RIR by 2025
  • Mentor and train employees across the organization, including guidance to sectors/lines of business on handling compliance, inspections, and citations.
  • Manage, track and report safety metrics regularly and effectively communicate safety statistics directly to leadership, including corporate and site-specific safety KPIs, to allow for data-driven decision-making.
  • Integrate department initiatives with company-wide strategic objectives and collaborate with other support functions.
  • Align strategic planning and execution of safety programs with company-wide strategic objectives and corporate policies/procedures, laws, regulations, and codes.
  • Act as an independent reviewer to ensure compliance, health, and safety within the organization leading investigations and providing guidance to resolve potential risk.
  • Create systems to drive best in class environmental stewardship and develop the required business case to achieve ISO14001 certification
  • Grow and mature the company’s focus on ESG and sustainability imperatives.
  • Development and ownership of budget for the EHS department.
  • Collaborate with industry peers and represent OBE at appropriate industry associations.

Here’s What We’re Looking For

  • Ability to travel as needed and required.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing large-scale safety and environmental compliance programs.
  • Extensive experience handling OSHA investigations and claims.
  • Excellent track record of reducing recordable injury and major incident rates.
  • Prior leadership in leading a high-performance team of direct and indirect reports with proven experience in training and mentoring EHS staff.
  • Strong understanding of safety risk assessment, risk mitigation and controls.
  • Exudes a highly credible balance of technical leadership and interpersonal skills to exert influence and network at all levels within the organization.
  • Understands data analytics and use of technology to drive performance.
  • Experience as a trusted advisor providing guidance to business leaders focused on continuously improving the execution of objectives across programs and projects.
  • Agile leadership style with the ability to adjust one's approach to fit the situation.
  • A visible leader who takes a collaborative approach with others and comes across as approachable.
  • Ability to lead and achieve ISO14001 certification.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the flexibility to coordinate safety amongst a geographically diverse company.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferred in Occupational Safety, Health, and/or Environmental (or similar), from an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated experience producing strategic plans to achieve sustainability, ESG, goals.
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant work experience with 10 years in a leadership safety role
