Position Summary

Join our Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope team as the visionary Director of Product Development focused on innovative and high-performance solutions. As a strategic leader, you will define and execute a comprehensive product development strategy, driving innovation, and ensuring our products meet and exceed industry standards for performance, aesthetics, and sustainability while developing creative, cost-effective solutions to meet our customers’ needs and architectural design requirements.  This role can be based in Terrell, TX or remotely in the US.

Key Responsibilities

  • New Product & Product Enhancement Roadmap: Based on defined portfolio strategy, develop & execute product development roadmap and schedule for both new products and engineering enhancements
  • Design Leadership: Lead a talented team of product designers and engineers, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and excellence in product design. Drive consistency in design principles across all product categories, including quality in design, in manufacturing and in application when finalizing design concepts.
  • VAVE Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) strategy to optimize product cost, functionality and overall value. Lead cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for cost reduction, improved performance and enhanced customer value through VAVE initiatives. Drive continuous improvement in product design and development processes to achieve efficiency gains without compromising quality.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales and Marketing to ensure seamless integration of product development leveraging the Program Development Process (PDP) stage gate process.
  • Research: Assist Applied Research with evaluating new technologies, materials and manufacturing processes associated with next generation products.
  • Intellectual Property Management: Conduct thorough assessments of IP landscapes and leverage insights to inform strategic decisions in product development. Collaborate with legal to ensure proper protection of IP assets, including patents, trademarks and trade secrets.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Industry Advocacy: Ensure compliance with industry regulations, standards and certifications, navigating evolving requirements. Oversee technical representation and membership in industry associations supporting OBE interests.

  • Communication - Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders

Professional Experience/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Engineering.
  • 15+ years’ experience in design, engineering, and application of commercial fenestration and/or glass products.
  • 10+ years’ experience in management in engineering related field.

Other

  • Lead a team of eight direct reports comprised of Engineers and Designers
  • Approximately 20% travel required
